2nd Bday Pics and Good People

I took Tay to get her 2 year birthday pictures taken at Picture People on Friday. If you have a toddler you're probably groaning at the thought of it, as you should because it's NEVER fun. It started off with me trying to dress her at home in an adorable outfit I picked out, only to discover that Taylor now has an opinion about what she should be wearing. She wouldn't wear the pink outfit I chose, but threw a fit until I put on her "bawoon dress". Fine. Whatever. You win. I pick and choose my battles these days. So it's into the bawoon dress and off to Picture People where we were greeted with an obviously green photographer. I had to explain a couple of times to him that telling Tay to "stand still and smile" just wasn't going to cut it. You have to make cow sounds or sneeze. Anything! For the love of God man, make an animal sound, would ya?! Did I mention she's 2, moron? Tay was a trooper and was hamming it up regardless.

45 minutes later it was time for us to see our pictures. I reach into my purse to get my wallet. Pink boa? Check. Fishie purse and matching sunglasses? Check. Blues Clues doll? Check. Where the heck is my wallet!!! I grab Tay and high tail it out to the car when I realize it's nowhere to be found. I start bawling. After all, I'm pregnant and it's picture day. Not a good mix. Taylor, in all her sweetness says, "Don't cry Mommy. It's o.k" At which point I lose it even more, because my gosh is this kid sweet. I must be doing an ok job in the parenting department if she has such a huge heart and can console me at age 2. I pull it together and call Toys R Us where I last remember seeing my wallet, all the while praying that someone kind and good has found it and turned it in. Lo and behold my prayers are answered. The manager of Toys R Us of all people, found it in the parking lot in a cart. So I put off picking out pictures and speed across town. When we get there I explain to the manager how thankful I am that he found it, and that I said a prayer that someone good would find it and that he was an answer to my prayers, that times are tough and I really appreciated it.....Basically pouring my heart out to this guy to which he replied somewhat condescendingly, "Well bless you my child." Whatever. I will always have a soft place in my heart for the manager of Toys R Us. Ugh. What an afternoon. And to confirm my theory on what a wonderful kid Tay is, she sang the whole way home even after being dragged from one place to the next. I love this kid.

Anyway....here are the fruits of our labor. Tay's 2 year pics.

It's a bus! It's a blimp! No! It's Nikki!

Watching myself balloon into twice
the size of my former self isn't something I enjoy. I'm definitely having a "fat day," due to all of the Jr. High students
and teachers who so bluntly told me that it's now totally obvious that I'm pregnant. That they, "weren't sure last week, but now they totally see it!" Thanks Rio Norte Jr. High, for making me feel like a whale.

I've worn the same 3 maternity outfits over and over, and I'm afraid I have to buckle down and buy some new clothes. Shopping for maternity clothes just isn't my cup of tea. I loved it the first time. I thought the expanding waist bands were adorable, and the nifty shirts that said "BABY" were to die for. Not so much this time around. I was SO enjoying my size 7 jeans, that the elastic waist bands I'm condemned to just aren't doing it for me. So get out your violins and play me a sad song because this mommy is depressed. But it is nice to know that Corinne Marie is growing strong and healthy in my belly. She is constantly kicking away, and I know she's enjoying the gallons of cranberry juice that I've been drinking.
I also noticed that I have a billion pictures while I was pregnant with Tay, but not one of this pregnancy. So I dragged Wes outside to take some belly shots this weekend in the ONLY clean maternity clothes that were available. (I'm using pregnancy as an excuse not to do laundry.) It cheered me up. I also put up some autumn decorations as well. I found a $5 scarecrow girl and a pumpkin welcome sign that just made my whole weekend! It really doesn't take a lot to make me happy....sometimes.

Hello, my name is Nikki and I'm a blog-a-holic.

Yes, I know this is the second time I've changed the look of my blog in the last 2 days, but I just can't help myself. Mostly because today it actually felt like fall! My favorite season! I absolutely love the smell in the air that comes with summer making it's exit while fall is right on it's heels. I'm not much of a summer girl. I prefer layers and weather that allows us to actually spend time at the park without Taylor screaming, "Slide is hot, Mommy! No slide! Go home!" Fall is almost here. I can feel it! Even though California doesn't exactly look like an Autumn Wonderland and the trees hardly change color at all, I can still feel the seasons changing. I'm decorating my porch this weekend. The neighbors may think it's premature, but I have one friend on the block who already broke out her scare crows and fake pumpkins so that's enough motivation for me.

More Drama For This Mamma

According to the ultrasound tech, Wes will have another little daddy's girl in January. That's right. A little more estrogen for the Pollard house, and we're SO excited. We were told she's "very active," which made us both roll our eyes. Looks like she'll be taking after her big sis. We'll have to brace ourselves. And boy o boy were her legs long! Looks like we'll have another 100th percentile kid in the height department. We've gotten that stupid comment lately about how people are sure we'd love a boy, but the truth is Taylor is my best little gal-pal and has been smitten with daddy for the past couple of months. I think I saw a little twinkle in Wes' eye this afternoon after we found out, when Tay was chasing him around the house and just loving on him. It kind of sealed the deal that yes, he'll have two little girls that adore him. I can't wait to break out the hundreds of outfits that Taylor only wore once, or not at all. Now if we only had a name picked out.....Any suggestions out there in blogging land?

It's A.......

I don't know what "it" is yet. I find out in 3 hours, so I'm killing time by posting this random blog. If it's a girl, I'm excited about dressing her in the the same outfits as Taylor, and getting to watch the two of them fight and attempt to kill each other when they're older. Ahh....the memories of growing up with a sister. I'd hate to deprive Taylor of those experiences. If it's a boy, I'm excited more for Wes to have a little softball/basketball buddy, who will also fight and attempt to kill his sister eventually. Either way. It's a win/win situation. In the mean time, here are some new pics of Tay to satisfy the family who so faithfully read this blog.

Making Chocolate Brownies for our neighbors birthday.

"Thanks for the outfit Aunt Sue!"

"I'm going to da store. Bye Bye Mommy."

Is this what I look like when I go to the store?
