Taylor was standing on the bed and fell off yesterday. She smacked her head against the night stand. Instantly there was a huge black and blue knot that was raised about an inch off her head. Wes and I both freaked out, but the next morning the knot was gone and only a small blue bruise remained. She learned an important lesson that I hope she won't forget. If we play around on the bed and are doing too many things at once, we can get hurt. Ahhhh Grasshopper. There are lessons to be learned everywhere. Strangely enough, I have been giving a lot of thought about balance lately. I've figured out that the weeks when I'm feeling really down and out have a lot to do with balance, or lack there of. If I put all my focus on the kids, then I'm left feeling like I've neglected the things that make me, Me. So I'm working on finding a balance. This week I went to the gym one day and ran, took a yoga class, and played basketball at church this morning. I came home a much happier mom having given myself a little time out. I remember hearing that women can have it all, do it all, be it all, blah, blah, blah. Then I had a women's history professor set the record straight. She said we CAN have it all. Just not all at the same time. I try to remember that when I'm feeling like one aspect of my life (like education) is being ignored, while other parts are being nurtured (like my family.) Again, balance Daniel Son. This grasshopper has a lot to learn.
