I'll Never Be Cool

Now that I'm in my thirties, I'm totally comfortable with the fact that I'll never be cool. Not even close. No matter how hard I try, I fail. So I've given up. And no longer will I hide my nerdyness. Instead, I'm embracing it. Flaunting it, even. So if you'll direct your attention to the left sidebar of this blog, you'll notice a new feature etitled My Dorky Radio Spots. Feel free to click on it for a good laugh.

After Taylor was born, I decided I wanted extra money and saw an ad in the paper for voice over artists to record spots for the Santa Clarita radio station. I figured, "How hard could it be?" I went in, told them I had no experience or training, and they hired me. I recorded 3 spots and that was that. They got me all excited about possibly doing the traffic on a regular basis, but it fell through. Probably had something to do with the fact that I sound like I'm 12 years old. Eh. It was an experience. Oh, and they didn't pay me with actual money. I got a gift card for the Olive Garden and some coupons for shops around town. No autographs, please.

That's awesome.. I get that I sound like I'm 12 all the time too. I think it's funny. I called a business once and asked for the manager and the worker only put his hand over the phone and said there is a kid on the phone for you. Umm.. I'm not a kid.. I'm 26..oh..so many stories. Or the fact that I was about to shoot someone's wedding and she's like.. do you mind me asking how old you are? I'm 29.. I know I sound like I'm 16 but I really am almost 30. :) Sounding young is a good thing right? Maybe means we are young at heart? We'll always look young?

I have a hard enough time saying I am in my 30's (gulp). What a fun experience to do something like this and that you are able to share it on your blog. :)
