Taylor started preschool through the city on Tuesday. We spent about a year doing our preschool co-op and at-home preschool but now that it's her pre kindergarten year, it's time to branch out. She was overly excited and ready to go by 6:30 am. Any worries I had about her being clingy or upset were for nothing. It was, "Bye, Mom. See you later. Don't let the door hit cha where the good Lord split cha!" And off she went with her new bff, another girl named Taylor. Because after all, if someone has the same name as you, it's only logical to become best friends. And if that same person also likes Disney princesses, you've got yourself a match made in heaven. She seems to be adjusting well but I can't say the same for Corinne. I have to drag her out of preschool, kicking and screaming, "PLAY!! TAY TAY!!" It's really sort of sad. And when we pick Taylor up, the girls run to each other and embrace as if it's been ages since they've seen one another. I'm glad they love each other so much. Best of friends and worst of enemies. Just as it should be.
This is her "too cool for school" look and a picture she painted the first day. She painted her name and a portrait of herself. You could say I was a little proud.
Corinne started gymnastics today. The poor kid's been tortured for the last couple of months watching Taylor while being stuck in the waiting room. Whenever the door to the gym floor opened, she'd bolt in and make a run for it. So we bit the bullet and signed her up. (I'm having a hard time writing this as I'm thinking of how much gymnastics for two kids is costing me. CRINGE!!) But she loved it. She jumped around for 45 minutes with a fat smile on her cute little face and had the time of her life. She's fearless and walked around the gym like she owned the joint. I'm excited to take her again next week.
And to make the week even more eventful, the girls were in their first car accident along with my mom. They were stopped at a red light and someone whose 'breaks went out' (he was on the phone) came from behind them and plowed into the driver's side of the truck, Taylor's side, and then into another car beside my mom. I don't like phone calls that start with the phrase, "Everyone's fine but..." Because even though it's been established that everyone's fine, I become NOT fine. I ran out of work faster than I think most women can run in heels. I was totally calm driving there but once I arrived and saw all the cop cars and my mom's truck in the middle of a wreck, I panicked a bit. I was cool for Taylor's sake, but my head was spinning. Corinne fell asleep during all the excitement and Taylor was just bored. So no permanent mental or physical scars for them, thank goodness.
All in all, a busy week. Bring on the fall!!

Fine entry, Nikki. I'm pretty sure there's a special place in hell for cell phone drivers.
Wow pre-school, gymnastics...Jason wont even go to nursery on his own!
Oh my, your baby girls are not babies anymore. They are so cute. I'm glad everyone is okay from the accident. My worst nightmare...
