Hanging up the tassles

More inappropriate pictures below.

When I was driving to Las Vegas with the girls a few weeks ago, I got a call that my great Aunt Mary had died. She was my grandpa's sister, which makes her sound like a distant relative, but in my family the great aunts tend to be pretty terrific to their nieces and nephews and not far removed at all. I drove the rest of the way to Vegas thinking about how short life really is, and how holding a grudge and living any other way than authentically is such a giant waste of time. All of the normal thoughts one has after the loss of a family member. But more than that, I felt disappointed that family functions just wouldn't have the same element of fun that they had when Aunt Mary was around.

She would break out in song in the middle of Thanksgiving dinner, then pull out a picture of herself from the 50's- posing topless. She always had a dirty joke to tell, and if you didn't have something nice to say....well you could go sit by her.  If you were placed at the same table as Aunt Mary at a wedding, you hit the jackpot. She loved to laugh and have fun. That's just who she was. When she was 80 she dressed up as Britney Spears for Halloween, and the costume in the picture above was from a strip tease she performed with her singing group, The Sweet Adelines. So naturally her memorial service was a party packed with people who were there to celebrate her 90 some odd years on earth, and all the fun she had while she was here. A slideshow was put together that really showed off what a hoot she was. There was live music, loud laughter, and friends gathered to send her on her way. I left early and was sad to miss out on hearing what others had to say about her. I'm sure it was mentioned that she showed people how to let loose and have a good time, and I bet she's dancing up a storm on the other side.

Aunt Mary's penis apron. So many reasons why this picture is awkward but makes me want to die laughing.
Her sparkly hat.

My gorgeous kid. Tay is just getting to be a tween and I love her so much....even though she drives me nuts with the tween attitude some days.
I know it's a fuzzy pic, but I love it when Breezy does her cute scrunchy face.

Taking care of dad

Back to School Night. Her teacher got a kick out of her sign. Corinne thinks she runs the school, apparently.

"Tap my shoulder to talk to me."  Seriously?

My Nicole Pollard Photography page is up and running on Facebook and Instagram, and I'm really proud of my last session. I can't say my photography has picked up as much as I'd like it to, but at least I still enjoy it as much as I did when I started.

BECKY nailed her landing. I tried but couldn't stick it. I love Becky for being goofy and reminding me to pull the giant stick out of my butt every once in a while.
